Hello Everyone!

What a successful Trek we had.  We as leaders are so impressed by the youth of our stake.  We were happy to see so many attend our final Trek Fireside on July 22nd.  Getting the chance to watch our Trek Video was a delight.  Even more exciting was watching the family reunions take place as the youth reunited with their trek families. 

We wanted to give everyone access to all of the videos, pictures, music and media coverage pertaining to the trek.  This will give you a little taste of our amazing experiences on the Trek:

A few more things...

Please do NOT forget...

  1. Youth & Leaders need to be dressed in Pioneer Clothing when arriving at the Stake Center at 6:00AM on Tuesday, May 29th (No Street Clothes permitted)

  2. Youth CANNOT bring any electronics (including, but not limited to, cell phones, radios, ipods, ipads, TVs, Gamboys, CD players, tape players, and electronic games) .

  3. Parents need to be at the Stake Center at 2pm ready to take their youth home on Saturday, June 2nd

Trek Countdown....

...12 more days!

Are you ready?  Do you have all of your supplies ready to go?

Here is a reminder of what you need:
(Please note that there have been some changes since the printed version handed out with the Registration Packet)

  • 5 gallon bucket and lid (Provided by Ward)
  • 1 0 degree sleeping bag (it gets plenty nippy in the mountains)–put inside plastic bag
  • 1 old blanket (wool if possible)
  • 1 old coat (warm)
  • 1 rain poncho
  • 1 pair of shoes to hike in (don't buy new ones -- they will give you blisters. Sturdy running or tennis shoes will work best. Hiking boots tend to be heavy, inflexible and are likely to rub you wrong which means foot pain and blisters - therefore we do not recommend that you wear hiking boots)
  • 3 pair of sturdy socks
  • 2 sets of underclothing
  • 2 bandanas (necessary items)
  • 1 metal pie plate (sturdy)
  • 1 metal spoon attached
  • 1 tin cup
  • 1 small hand towel and a comb or brush
  • 1 toothbrush & baking soda
  • Deodorant
  • 5 Band-Aids
  • Prescribed medications only (will be held by Trek doctor)
  • An old set of scriptures and your favorite church magazine
  • 2 heavy duty garbage bags
  • Water bottle
  • Chapstick (lip balm), insect repellent, small package of HandiWipes and sunscreen
  • Gloves



MEN should bring:
  • 2 pairs of wool, canvas, or cotton pants (not Levis)
  • 2 long-sleeved shirts (flannel are best, but any will do)
  • 1 wide-brimmed western style hat (no baseball or army hats allowed)
  • 1 pair suspenders




WOMEN should bring:
  • 2 mid-calf length, long-sleeved dresses or 2 mid-calf skirts and 2 long sleeve blouses
  • 1 or 2 bonnets
  • 1 pair of knee-length bloomers (can be made out of old pajama bottoms or hospital pants (patterns are available upon request)
  • 1 apron
  • 1 flannel nightgown or 1 pair of warm pajamas
  • Feminine hygiene supplies


Optional Items:

  • Camera (There will be a Stake photographer taking photographs through out the Trek)
  • Personal journal and pen or pencil
  • Folding pocket knife (4 inch blades or smaller with lock)
  • Harmonica
  • No electronic devices



ALL ITEMS (except Sleeping Bag & Coat) MUST FIT IN THE TREK BUCKET



Do not bring:

  • Electronic devices of any kind, included but not limited to: Cell phones, radios, ipods, ipads, TVs, Gameboys, CD players, tape players, and electronic games.
  • Sodas and candy.
  • Fixed-blade knives or sheath knifes are not allowed except for cooking, and will be used under the supervision of the Ma’s and Pa’s.
  • Lighters are not permitted at any time.
  • Aerosol spray products are not permitted
  • No fireworks are allowed at any time

Ma & Pa Training this Week!!



This Cooking Training Meeting is primarily for the Ma's and Pa's but any Trek Committee Members are welcome to attend.

We are so excited that Trek is moving forward and wanted to remind everyone of the important upcoming Cooking Training this Saturday, March 10th at the Stake Center from 9 am - 11 am. We are excited to have the head of the Food Committee - Mike Claridge, who will be instructing us on so important information and skills that will be needed for our food Preparations while on the Trek. Please make sure to attend if at all possible and if you are unable to attend please let Bro. & Sis. Brown know as soon as possible.  See you on Saturday.

Ma & Pa Training Dates

Feb 11th - Medical Training 10a-12p

Mar 10th - Cooking Training I, 9a-11a

Apr 14th - Cooking Training II, 9a-11a

May 5th - Activities Training, 9a-11a

All Trainings will take place at the Stake Center

Please try to make it to all of the Training meetings however - we know you have lives and jobs and kids too! : ) Just let Bro. and Sis. Brown know if you won't be able to attend and they will get you all the information we are going over at the meetings and hopefully a training video as well!
